Can You Guess What I Use To Be?

This weekend we had a booth at the Indian Lake Fall Harvest Festival. One of our items is this gorgeous chalkboard (just $40 for a solid wood 4 1/2 foot piece, ask for details!). It is one of our fabulously re-purposed items that is at the core of what makes The Loft and Found so special. As a conversation starter at this weekend's three-day festival, we wrote this message: "Can You Guess What I Use To Be?"
Well over 150 people came up and hazarded a guess. Only 6 people guessed correctly without our hint. Only three people guessed correctly on the first try.
So here are some of the more creative answers we received.

A Tree: Well, yes it was at some point, but not quite what we were looking for. Nice try smarties!

A cupboard door: Good guess, but incorrect!

THE MOST POPULAR guess was a transom. Don't worry, we weren't sure what that was either. So someone told us and we went "Oh yeah...nope!"

Other guesses included a door, garage door panel, bench, mantle, headboard, old store sign, classroom chalkboard (come on folks, we turned a chalkboard into a...chalkboard?), train station sign. All great guesses, but nope, nope and nope!
Want a hint? It used to be musical. As soon as we give this hint, the look of comprehension dawns on everyone's faces and they all say, "A piano!"
Ding, ding ding!
I don't have a photo of the actual piano unfortunately, but here is something kind of similar.
Our old upright piano (old even 22 years ago when it came through our front door, complete with a box of kittens) had seen its last days. It was broken beyond reasonable repair, but we couldn't stand to see it chopped up and thrown away. So instead we salvaged the front and made our unique piece!

So there you have it! A fantastic piece, perfect to hang in your children's playroom or in your kitchen. The solid wood surface makes a perfect chalkboard, with minimal chalk dust created. If interested, please let us know (we also do custom pieces)!

Laurel Oaks Hobby and Harvest Fair

This past Saturday we got to partake in your first craft show experience!

We were at the Laurel Oaks Hobby and Harvest Fair. There were about 110 total venders there with all sorts of crafts and goodies. The day started out very early for us by we were ready to go! We got there around 7:30 and had until 9 a.m. to get ourselves set up.

The gate unfortunately open earlier than planned and there were people looking around about 20 minutes before we were ready for them. But we worked fast and got what we needed done!

Doesn't our booth look great?! This was before we had the tent issue.

It was very stress full, but very fun all at the same time.

It had rained a lot the night before which made the park a bit of a mucky muddy mess. But not to worry! We brought cardboard along with us just for that reason. And we only got one of your vechiles stuck, but with a little help from the gate guard we got it out with only some mud left on the tires.

It was also a bit on the windy side and we had to take one of our tents down for Miss Mother Nature decided to rip it right out of the ground. But no damage was done!

It was a slow sale day for us as well as most of the other venders, but we did make a few sales and met a lot of great people.

Have a lot of future potential clients with projects they would like me to work on!

Love the my distressed "J"

Our Buffet Table turned out to be a nice display center!

This Chalk Board Coffee Table was a huge hit with the kids!

The Hutch was a great place to show things too!

This Mirror was talked out of a few ladies by their husbands :(

Chalk Board Easel anyone?

I love the inside of the French Provincial Writing Desk!

The globe on our Map desk was taken home by a boy who
wanted to by it at the beginning of the day
but mom said no. Then later that afternoon they were back!
The kid knew what he wanted and went for it! :)

It was very much a learning experience for all of us. We can't wait to do it again!

Please stop by at our next show and say hello! We would like to hear from you!
