The Occasional Table

So if you go over and look at our "Current Projects" page you will see that we recently acquired three end tables in various forms of ugly and/or dated. Through a lot of hard work and a little creativity we have managed to transform these hidden treasures into beautiful pieces of furniture.
The first one we tackled was the "Occasional Table." It's a style of phone table that now would be perfect for a cell phone/tablet charging station. it has two shelves to hold a lamp, books, phones etc. And it is now gorgeous blue and white stripes.

Before:

It was cream with this taupe/peachy color underneath. It was quite sturdy and had lots of character but in a modern home it doesn't really go with anything. So with the help of Annie Sloane Chalk Paint we were able to convert it into this wonderful piece that will be difficult to part with.

After:

As you can see this is just a gorgeous piece of furniture in Provence Blue and Old White. It is sturdy and has lots of space for anything you need on the go.
Once we get a couple coats of was on the table, it will be ready to go home with you for just $45!

Crayon rolls and pending announcement!

We were at the annual Wapakoneta Noon Optimist Club Craft Show this weekend. Our little crayon rolls were popular (they make great gifts and fit easily in purses and diaper bags of any size!) and we had some custom orders placed.

Also featured at the show were our distressed mason jars. These will go on clearance soon to make way for the winter/Christmas ones.

As always we also featured our chalk board pieces and our pallet creations!

Stay tuned for a big announcement later this week. You will want to be the first to know!

Custom piece: Bathroom organizer

This week a client asked us to create a custom piece for the bathroom in her new home. The entire house needed a paint job, and when she removed her old hand towel ring, she discovered the screws had stripped and the removal of the piece took a bit of the wall with it. So after patching the wall and painting, she wanted something much cuter than what had been there before.
So this is the before piece:

See? Not very cute.

Instead we came up with this fabulous piece for her that is so much more than a towel holder.

So now she has a place to store her blow dryer, straightener, etc., a hand towel, cotton swabs, cotton balls, and make up brushes. She also had hooks and a knob for hair bands, jewelry, decorate items...anything she wants!

This piece was done in colors to match her color scheme and style, and we can do it for you as well! Contact The Loft and Found for pricing on custom pieces to meet not only your needs, but your style as well!

Can You Guess What I Use To Be?

This weekend we had a booth at the Indian Lake Fall Harvest Festival. One of our items is this gorgeous chalkboard (just $40 for a solid wood 4 1/2 foot piece, ask for details!). It is one of our fabulously re-purposed items that is at the core of what makes The Loft and Found so special. As a conversation starter at this weekend's three-day festival, we wrote this message: "Can You Guess What I Use To Be?"
Well over 150 people came up and hazarded a guess. Only 6 people guessed correctly without our hint. Only three people guessed correctly on the first try.
So here are some of the more creative answers we received.

A Tree: Well, yes it was at some point, but not quite what we were looking for. Nice try smarties!

A cupboard door: Good guess, but incorrect!

THE MOST POPULAR guess was a transom. Don't worry, we weren't sure what that was either. So someone told us and we went "Oh yeah...nope!"

Other guesses included a door, garage door panel, bench, mantle, headboard, old store sign, classroom chalkboard (come on folks, we turned a chalkboard into a...chalkboard?), train station sign. All great guesses, but nope, nope and nope!
Want a hint? It used to be musical. As soon as we give this hint, the look of comprehension dawns on everyone's faces and they all say, "A piano!"
Ding, ding ding!
I don't have a photo of the actual piano unfortunately, but here is something kind of similar.
Our old upright piano (old even 22 years ago when it came through our front door, complete with a box of kittens) had seen its last days. It was broken beyond reasonable repair, but we couldn't stand to see it chopped up and thrown away. So instead we salvaged the front and made our unique piece!

So there you have it! A fantastic piece, perfect to hang in your children's playroom or in your kitchen. The solid wood surface makes a perfect chalkboard, with minimal chalk dust created. If interested, please let us know (we also do custom pieces)!
